Better than expected
I was actually surprised by my stay! The room was spacious and comfortable with a lovely art decor. The location is fantastic, close to Chinatown and the Embarcadero. There's free coffee and tea in the lobby, and a fun Irish bar nearby. Just a heads up, the breakfast is quite basic. I'd definitely stay here again!

Clean hotel, very very nice and incredible team members at check-out. Spotless, unique units provided with the beautiful artistic paintings, original artwork plus private bathrooms. Lots of options for breakfast, good coffee, butter, slices of fresh bread and cheese. A quiet and wonderful property, my first choice in San Francisco.

The quirky decor adds a unique charm to the hotel.
Zero ventilation made the room feel stuffy when the windows couldn't be opened.

Location - right in the city and very close to transport and shops.
The first person on the front desk greeted us with "You obviously don't know what time check in is" when we arrived to dump our bags 1 hour early. She then proceeded to watch us struggle with the old style elevator without helping.

The hotel was cool, it had a marvellous and fantastic location short walk to Union Square and the Financial District and French Quarter next to Chinese district on Grant Street. We really enjoyed coffee, butter, slices of fresh bread, and cheese at the breakfast.
The staff we met were horribly rude.

The best thing was the position, just near the chinatown gate and union square. The room was clean, comfortable and smelt good.
The elevator very bad, the breakfast room too small and a very poor selection of food for breakfast. strange smell in the corridor.

Location: really closed to Union Square and Chinese town. Rooms with paintings on the wall
Noise : some rooms are really closed to a street which is behind the building, and this street has almost 10 big trashes for all the restaurant around, and homeless people sleeping there. You need to buy ear plugg to sleep well

The drawings in the wall were very ugly and we didnt like them. The stairs and the bathroom size were very short and unconfortable. We stayed one night and change to another hotel. They charged an extra US $ 100.00 for not staying the 3 nights as reserved.

Unique and chic. I was very impressed with Hotel Des Arts. As the Marketing Manager for a small Boutique Hotel in Florida, I always look to support smaller independently run properties. I loved the style, staff, location and especially the Social Media integration. It was nice to see an active member of your staff monitoring social media for guests preferences, and Hotel Des Arts now follows me on twitter! This hotel seems like a place I would love to work! If Hotel Des Arts ever needs a team member (operations, marketing, social media, sales) I would love the opportunity!
Little musty on some floors but smell did not transfer to rooms.

Staying here with my family and nephew was dope! We loved the spacious quadruple room with two double beds, perfect for our group. The quirky decor and vibrant art throughout the hotel. Plus, being a short walk from Chinatown was a huge bonus!
In my wife's opinion, the lack of air conditioning was tough .
